Managing the Cattle Cycle
Ryan Copithorne will be speaking on “Managing the Cattle Cycle,” offering insights from across the industry. He’ll explore how producers can prepare for that turning point, manage risk, and whether forages can play a role in the strategy.
Ryan is a fourth-generation rancher with over 30 years of hedging experience and a lifelong background in agriculture. He has built and managed ranch operations across multiple regions. Today, he leads Cows in Control Inc., helping ranchers and smaller feedlots with strategy, market timing, and risk management. He also serves as president of the Western Stockgrowers Association.
Whole System Forage Planning
Ken Van Driesten, MSc, CCA, is a forage specialist who will be speaking on “Whole System Forage Planning,” where he’ll cover a range of forage options for the farm and dive into the “why” and “how” behind each one.
Ken is a consultant with expertise in all things livestock nutrition. He has a unique skill set that understands livestock rations and can practically correlate it to developing forage plans. Ken understands the balance between animal performance and forage system efficiency.
